Eats at the Peak is Mt Hotham’s first gourmet food festival, celebrating local food, produce and community.

Eats at the Peak is the opportunity to eat local food and produce, learn from immersive food masterclasses and connect to the High Country’s rich community.

Set in the ethically conscious Alpine Nature Experience eco-vilage, amongst the unique Australian snow gums and picturesque mountains, Eats at the Peak is an exciting opportunity to celebrate and connect to the spirit of the High Country.

Local Food & Beverages

Get excited to indulge in local food, or simply relax with a drink in hand amidst vibrant alpine vibes. Eats at the Peak general admission tickets give you access to the producer exhibition tent and all the concerts set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Alpine Nature Experience Eco-Village. There you can also purchase food cooked with local produce by our onsite chef, exciting wines, beers and soft drink from the bar!

Talk: Local Food Systems

Murmungee Basin Produce
Saturday the 15th - 11am

An overview of current food systems including the 'industrial' system and other more localised approaches. Some discussion on the history of the food system in Australia and how we got to where we are now.

Topics for discussion;

  • What is a Local food system
  • Advantages and limitations of the current industrial system

  • What would an ideal food system look like?
  • How can we participate in a local food system?

Masterclass: How to make Gravalax

Stony Creek Fish Farm

Learn the art of making gravlax using fresh, locally farmed Atlantic salmon from Stony Creek Fish Farm, where pristine alpine water and small-scale farming ensure exceptional quality and happy fish.

  • Discover the traditional curing process that enhances the salmon’s natural flavour, and explore our favourite ways to serve and enjoy gravlax.
  • Dive into “all things fish” with a lively discussion about the importance of eating locally farmed fish for the planet and what actually goes on behind-the-scenes on (it’s more than just a few ponds!), and creative recipes and ideas for cooking with fish.

Talk: Soil Health, Plant Health & Human Health

Join us for an overview on the incredible diversity in soil, then how the current food system manages soil, how plant health is impacted by current conventional soil management for food production and how this impacts human health, then explore alternatives for working with soil in food production to optimise soil health and thus human health.

Alpine Chef Scotty Dando & Farm to Fork Producers
Sunday the 16th - 11am - 12.30pm

A fusion of local produce to cap off a wonderful weekend.  The best in dairy, meat and veg combined with some crusty bread.  Communal style with some creative matching from local chef Scotty Dando of Wyndham Resorts fame joined by master butcher Will Hood from Farm to Fork Butchery in Mt Beauty with some fresh smoked delights.
